Pear Varieties

Depending on the season, we often have limited quantities of pears for sale in addition to apples.  Some seasons are better for pears than others, so make sure you call to check for availability.  Pears are more fragile and bruise more easily than apples, so be careful to handle them gently.

Young, recently-planted pear trees. These trees should begin to bear fruit in another year or 2!

Dutchess Pears

Generally used for fresh eating or in desserts, the Dutchess Pear is a delicate, soft, juicy, pear with sweet pulp. They ripen in late September or early October.

Parker Pears

Developed in 1934 by the University of Minnesota, Parker pears are similar in size, flavor and texture to Bartlett pears and ripen in mid-September.
